The Tournament

The Athens EUDC 2019 Organizing Committee is excited to invite you to our first major event on the way to Euros, the Athens Open 2018!
The tournament is supported by the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) as part of the “Europe for Citizens” programme.

Dates: Friday 27 – Sunday 29 April 2018

Team cap: 80 (with the possibility of extending to 100)

Registration fee: 80 EUR per person, including 2 nights hotel accommodation, all meals and transport (registration fee of 30 EUR per person available with no accommodation & transportation)

Athens Open 2018 will include five rounds, breaking to Quarters. Rounds start on Friday afternoon, and Finals end on Sunday by lunchtime (see the full schedule here).

Why join us?

We will be using the same main venue (HAEF), and the same hotel (President Hotel) as Athens EUDC 2019, as well as working with an amazing CA and TAB team.

So, it is more than certain that the Athens Open 2018 will be a complete test run for Euros, offering a unique opportunity to explore the beauties of Athens in the springtime, and more importantly, to have a taste of what to expect when the city hosts the Athens EUDC 2019.

The tournament is also a chance for all those who will not attend EUDC in August 2019 to get a glimpse of the Agora, and a fantastic prep tournament for the big summer debating events of 2018!

Save the date and get ready to enjoy an unforgettable stay in Athens!
