Training Events

Athens Open 2018 kicked off a series of major events on the way to Athens EUDC. It also served as a test and training event for the upcoming euros while giving the opportunity to the participants to take a glimpse of what’s to come! It took place at the same venue (HAEF), hotel (President) and brought together the  the majority of the future CA team and Org.Com. and the complete Tabulation team. The event was a success on every level attracting 56 teams representing more than 20 insitutions from more than 10 countries. You can find the tab here.  

The tournament was supported by the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) as part of the “Europe for Citizens” programme.

The Nordic Debate Academy was the pilot project of the Athens EUDC and Thailand WUDC joint debate training programme, in partnership with the Danish Debate Association, the Finnish Debating AssociationStockholm Debate Society, and Lund Debate Society. It took place in Copenhagen and featured British Parliamentary training sessions, practice debates, and a short tournament at the end (you can find the tab here).

The Mediterranean Debate Academy will be held in Split and is the second installation of the joint project of Athens EUDC and Thailand WUDC debate training program, in partnership with Split Debating Union, with the main scope of developing debate in the region. 

It features British Parliamentary training sessions (for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants), practice debates, and of course a tournament. 

The Balkan Debate Academy which will be held in Sofia, is the third event of the joint project of Athens EUDC and Thailand WUDC, in partnership with the Bulgarian Debate Association and sponsored by the America for Bulgaria Foundation, with the main scope of developing debate in the Balkan region.

It features British Parliamentary training sessions (for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants), practice debates, and of course a tournament. 

The International Palestine Debate Academy will be co-organized by the An Najah University Debate Society and the Al-Quds Bard Debate Union. The first two days of the will take place simultaneously in two training locations: Al Quds Bard College in Abu Dis and An Najah National University in Nablus in order to accommodate participants from across the West Bank. These trainings will include workshops and practice sessions for a mix of beginner to advanced participant levels focusing on the British Parliamentary debate format and including debate analysis and strategy, judging, trainer of trainers (TOT) sessions, refutation and argumentation.

The final two days of the Academy will be a national debate tournament located at the Arab American University – Ramallah Site

The Central European Debate Academy which will be held in Krakow, co-organized by the Polish Debating Foundation and hosted by the Jagiellonian Debating Society, is the first international debating camp in Poland and the last event of the joint training project of Athens EUDC and Thailand WUDC. 

Similarly to the previous events it will feature a number of British Parliamentary training sessions for begginer, intermediate and advanced participants, followed by practice debates and a tournament.
